August Blockchain Funding Recap

Last month, $500 million was invested in blockchain-related companies across 123 funding deals. Crypto VC activity in dollar terms decreased for a fourth consecutive month, dipping by approximately 40% month over month. August is the lowest funding month this year. Furthermore, it is also the least amount allocated month to the sector since January 2021 ($348 million).

Although this drop-off in blockchain funding is alarming, the average and median amount raised per month this year is still just under $1 billion. Thus, we express caution in interpreting these figures as anything more than an outlier.
