Heading into year two as President of the European Central Bank (ECB), Christine Lagarde took to Twitter on Sunday, November 1st, compiling a thread of important milestones the ECB has accomplished during the coronavirus pandemic thus far. Among the list was Lagarde's video inviting European consumers to participate in an online survey providing feedback on a potential ‘digital euro’ CBDC.

As Europeans are increasingly turning to digital in the ways they spend, save and invest, we should be prepared to issue a digital euro, if needed.
