Coinbase’s direct listing on Nasdaq signifies a landmark moment for the digital asset industry. Coinbase's shares on the Nasdaq exchange began at an initial price of $381, which implies a market capitalization just shy of $100 billion at $99.5 billion for the US-based crypto exchange. The size of Coinbase’s direct listing alone has reset the industry's total annual aggregate financing as seen to date, which has equated to roughly $15.8 billion from 2015 to 2020.

While Coinbase should celebrate its public listing, this event marks the beginning of a new chapter for the firm. It will need to rely heavily on its corporate development team to strategize how it will maintain and warrant its market share in a highly competitive market that will only get more crowded.
