July Blockchain Funding Recap

Last month, roughly $818 million was invested in blockchain-related companies across 123 funding deals. Funding in dollar terms decreased by approximately 18% month over month whereas deal volume for the sector slid nearly 11%. 

In our last recap, we emphasized how VC activity began to stagnate in June and that investment activity would be worth monitoring over the following months. This downtrend for blockchain funding continued into July, as it had the fewest deals year-to-date and was the second-lowest month in funding. Additionally, deals and funding activity have decreased for a third consecutive month.
