May Blockchain Funding Recap

From April to May, venture funding in the blockchain sector decreased by 17% from nearly $1.2 billion to slightly more than $1.0 billion. Since January, which was the lowest month for VC activity in two years, the blockchain sector has averaged nearly $1.1 billion in investment per month.

The number of deals increased roughly 8% month-over-month from 171 in April to 184 in May. Deal activity has been regularly rising each month since December’s low of 87 blockchain deals, except for March when deals decreased to 137 from 161 in the previous month.
