Bitcoin and the broader blockchain sector have surged into the spotlight again with their recent price increases, capturing attention due to Bitcoin’s new all-time highs, now exceeding $88,000. The 2024 election victory by Donald Trump has further fueled market enthusiasm, with many in the industry anticipating that a Trump administration will favor Bitcoin and regulatory clarity for digital assets.

Beyond price performance, October saw renewed vibrancy in private markets for the blockchain sector. Venture capital inflows reached $1.7 billion across 309 deals, marking a substantial 52% month-over-month increase. This surge represents the strongest month of funding in 2024 and the highest since September 2022. After a prolonged slowdown, investment in blockchain has now risen for two consecutive quarters, breaking the cycle of periodic increases followed by declines that have characterized the sector’s funding trends over the past two years. For instance, in early 2024, February into March saw a 78% rise in private investment, from $865 million to over $1.5 billion in March, only to fall back to $1 billion by April.
