Since the launch of spot ETFs on January 11, 2024, the newly approved spot bitcoin ETFs have garnered $5.8 billion in inflows. In contrast, the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) has experienced a notable outflow of $5 billion, marking a pivotal change in investor preferences.

The current outflows from the GBTC can be attributed to two primary factors. Firstly, investors who previously purchased GBTC shares at a notable discount did so with the expectation of the fund transitioning into an ETF. These investors are now capitalizing on their investments following a significant reduction in the discount to the Net Asset Value (NAV), which decreased from 6.2% to a mere 0.1%.
