A Spot Bitcoin ETF has been a central point of discussion in the digital asset sector. However, the SEC has so far rejected every spot bitcoin ETF application it has received, offering various reasons, including insufficient trading volumes, lack of qualified custodial offerings, and insufficient means of compliance to prevent fraudulent and manipulative acts.

Crypto markets have evolved over the years as the trading volumes across exchanges and structured products increased, and custodial offerings and security improved. On top of that,  BlackRock’s recent ETF filing with a surveillance-sharing agreement (SSA) to offer a new solution to market manipulation has made receiving the approval of a spot ETF not an unreasonable expectation.
