The Logbook: Laundry detergent as black market currency

It's probably surprising for most to learn that laundry detergent, a common household item, is one of the top stolen items from retailers.

But it's true — according to annual crime reports released by the National Retail Federation, 15% of organized retail crime  —  that is, professional shoplifting  —  involved the theft of laundry detergent.
