Few cryptocurrency exchanges have as rich of a history as Bitstamp. As one of the largest and oldest exchanges in the industry, Bistamp has survived multiple hacks, regulatory scrutiny and the extreme price volatility commonly associated with cryptocurrencies.

Established in 2011, Bitstamp is headquartered in Luxembourg, with offices in the United Kingdom and the United States. In 2019, the exchange re-upped its efforts to expand its U.S. presence after receiving New York’s coveted Bitlicense, appointing former Coinbase executive Hunter Merghart to head its U.S. operations.
