Mapping out ErisX

Eris Exchange was founded in 2010 to provide cash-settled swap futures. In the third quarter of 2017, the firm’s board approved its new venture in digital assets. Subsequently, Eris Exchange launched ErisX, a platform for investors to trade digital assets futures and spot contracts.

Since then, ErisX has quickly filled its team with a list of Wall Street and tech executives. The firm also raised funding from highly regarded investors including Digital Currency Group, Cboe Global Markets, and TD Ameritrade. In July ErisX received its Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission allowing the exchange's clearinghouse to clear digital asset futures contracts.
