NFT markets experienced explosive growth in 2021. The total NFT trading volume surpassed $8.8 billion, with Art and Collectibles contributing 59% and gaming NFTs comprising 41% of the volume. One NFT project that sparked the mainstream community's interest in early 2021 was Dapper Labs' NBA Top Shot. Based on CryptoSlam's NFT collection ranking, which tracks the owner-to-owner sales, NBA Top Shot is currently ranked fifth place by all-time sales and first place by total transactions. Born with a unique combination of 48 genes, each cat is one of its kind. Once the player purchases or breeds new CryptoKitties, he or she has absolute and immutable ownership over the kitties.
