So far in this series, we have seen how obscure and human-unreadable data (the Bronze layer) can lead to high-level insights but offer limited understanding of what is happening within a given protocol. With the help of a smart contract’s ABI that translates byte-formatted events and method calls into comprehensible data, one gets to the Silver data layer, containing filtered and cleaned data focused on a specific action within a certain protocol, token, or any other (set of) smart contracts. The resulting insights enable analysts to delve deeper into the details of contract usage and gain a more nuanced understanding of the patterns and trends associated with it.

In this third and final part, we’ll take a look at how we can standardize interactions across multiple protocols and how we augment that data to get to a solid understanding of multiple niche-specific decentralized applications. The end result is called the Golden data layer which allows for generalizable, industry-wide insights.
