There's an old adage along the lines of "you can tell what kind of person she is by the company she keeps" and I guess the corporate version would naturally be "you can tell what kind of company it is by the type of person it keeps [on its books]"? Like, if a company makes a high-profile product hire, that might reflect the product-focused nature of the company. "Looks like they're going all in on product, eh?" commentators might proffer, lazily, and they'd probably be right, because, like, why else would the company in question hire a high profile product person?
