The ability to stress-test governance — a core feature set for decentralized protocols — in the wild, and at scale is an exciting development. As new "next-gen" protocols and projects being to go live, there's a dataset starting to emerge in the space that deserves monitoring: governance participation turnout.

While the data is still too early and incomplete to garner meaningful insights (most live on-chain governance protocols have only a handful of historical proposals to analyze), let alone the unknown of whether formal on-chain governance can even be a "success" (subjectivity of defining success aside) and the challenges of standardizing results across projects, we've found that token participation within some on-chain governance proposals have generated a higher turnout than traditional US corporate governance participation.
