Soulbound Tokens and the Rise of Decentralized Society

In a previous piece, we introduced the concept of Souls and soulbound tokens (SBTs) and how they could provide identity and individuation in web3. Topics included how SBTs allow one to build reputation, establish provenance, access uncollateralized lending, and build and protect their reputation and identity. The focus was on the individual – now we turn to the converse.

At the same time that intersections among Souls define the individual, they define the communities to which they belong, composing matrices of communities that form the basis for a decentralized society (DeSoc). Here, we focus on explaining how SBTs can give rise to DeSoc.
