In our previous piece, we described an integrative model of Web3, which represents Web3 technologies as a horizontal expansion of Web2 technologies enabling more decentralization, ownership, and verifiability in users’ experience on the web. On the server side, various data structures are stored on centralized servers in Web2 versus decentralized servers (e.g., blockchain nodes) in Web3, as shown in the diagram below.

In this piece, we focus on the relationship between applications and decentralized data servers on the backend of Web3 infrastructure. Specifically, how can users and developers bring blockchain data to an application?
