Urbit, the galactic personal server

Programmer Curtis Yarvin wanted to build a computing platform better suited for the current age of the Internet, a personal cloud server in which data is fully controlled by the owner of the server and no one else. And so in 2002, Yarvin founded Urbit as a personal side project. 

For the next 11 years, Yarvin iterated on his vision, developing an operating system, a virtual machine, and native programming languages. Including compilers, libraries, and modules, the whole Urbit operating system was made up of approximately 30,000 lines of code. For comparison, there are 50 million lines of code in the Windows operating system.
