U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded their lowest trading volume for a full five-session week since October 2024, while ether ETFs continued to outperform their larger counterparts in attracting new capital.
Spot bitcoin ETF trading volume totaled roughly $8.05 billion during the week ending Friday, down 14% from $9.37 billion in the preceding period, according to The Block’s analysis of SoSoValue data.
The funds last posted lower weekly volume in April 2025, though that period contained only four trading sessions because U.S. markets were closed for Good Friday. Among full five-session weeks, the latest figure was the lowest since the week ending Oct. 11, 2024.
The decline reflects subdued trading activity as bitcoin remained near $64,000, well below the record highs reached late last year. The funds nevertheless finished the week with approximately $33.8 million in net inflows, extending their positive run to three weeks after ending a record eight-week outflow streak earlier this month.
The result was the weakest draw of those three positive weeks, following inflows of $75.7 million the previous week and $197.4 million the week before that. Bitcoin ETFs drew about $499.1 million over the first three sessions of the week before investors withdrew $225.2 million on Thursday and another $240.1 million Friday, erasing nearly all of the earlier gains.
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, the largest spot bitcoin ETF by net assets, recorded roughly $95.5 million in net outflows for the week after losing a combined $414.7 million during the final two sessions, per the data. Grayscale’s Bitcoin Mini Trust and the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF partly offset those withdrawals with approximately $85.8 million and $78.1 million in inflows, respectively.
Ether ETFs outperform for second straight week
Spot ether ETFs drew approximately $103.9 million in net inflows, more than three times the bitcoin funds’ total and the category’s third consecutive positive week, per SoSoValue data.
The ether (ETH) products also outperformed bitcoin ETFs for a second straight week. They attracted $105.4 million in inflows during the preceding period, compared with $75.7 million for the bitcoin funds.
Over the past three weeks, ether ETFs have collected about $293.8 million, nearly matching the $306.9 million that flowed into bitcoin ETFs. Ethereum ETF net assets stood at $10.17 billion Friday, compared with $77.82 billion for the bitcoin products. The latest ether inflows were equivalent to roughly 1% of the category’s net assets. Bitcoin inflows represented about 0.04% of that group’s assets.
BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust accounted for approximately $96.3 million of the ether funds’ weekly total, per the data. Grayscale’s Ethereum Mini Trust added $9.9 million, while Fidelity’s FETH recorded about $6.2 million in net outflows.
Ethereum ETF trading volume totaled $2.78 billion, down about 2% from the prior week. That was equivalent to roughly 35% of bitcoin ETF volume even though the ether products held only about 13% as much in net assets.
Both groups remain in net outflows for the year
The recent rebound has not erased the funds’ losses for the year. Bitcoin ETFs remain at approximately $5.23 billion in net outflows since the start of 2026, while ether ETFs are down roughly $1.15 billion. Ether products have nevertheless led so far in July, drawing about $337.7 million compared with $234 million for bitcoin ETFs.
Bitcoin traded near $64,110 on Saturday morning, while ether changed hands around $1,864, according to The Block’s Bitcoin and Ethereum price pages.
