HashKey obtains crypto registration approval in Ireland amid global expansion
Quick Take
- The Asia-based crypto firm has obtained regulatory approval through its European unit to operate crypto trading services in Ireland.
HashKey Group has obtained “Virtual Asset Service Provider” registration approval from the Central Bank of Ireland through its European unit as the Asia-based crypto financial services firm continues its global expansion.
In a statement released Tuesday, HashKey said that the registration allows HashKey Europe to offer cryptocurrency trading and custodian wallet services.
“As part of HashKey Group's global expansion strategy, the VASP approval in Ireland is a critical step toward strengthening its presence in key international markets,” the company said.
HashKey Group has also received crypto-relevant licenses in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Bermuda. In 2023, HashKey Exchange became one of the first crypto exchanges to obtain a license under Hong Kong’s new licensing regime, which permits crypto trading platforms to offer retail services.
The company has also developed its own blockchain and launched its Ethereum Layer 2 HashKey Chain on mainnet in December.
HashKey Group’s core businesses include HashKey Exchange, HashKey Global, HashKey Capital, HashKey OTC, HashKey Cloud and HashKey Tokenisation, according to the statement.
