One of the largest annual crypto conferences, NFT Paris, has been canceled with a one-month notice.
"After four editions bringing together the global Web3 community in Paris, we have to face reality: NFT Paris 2026 will not happen," the team posted to X on Monday. "The market collapse hit us hard. Despite drastic cost cuts and months of trying to make it work, we couldn't pull it off this year."
Although there were spikes of NFT trading activity in 2025, the market as a whole has failed to recover to its pandemic-era highs, despite a rebound in the prices of fungible tokens, like bitcoin. Trading volumes across NFT marketplaces have dropped roughly 95% from 2021 highs, while once-premium collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club and CryptoPunks have seen valuations crater.
Tellingly, OpenSea, one of the first and often most-active NFT trading venues, is pivoting to become a general crypto aggregation platform.
Beyond the rout in NFT markets, it is unclear why the major event was canceled. Previously published promotional material suggested the event coordinators anticipated about 20,000 attendees, and had hundreds of presenters and side events lined up.
Alongside NFT Paris, the event, scheduled for February 5–6 at the Grande Halle de los angeles Villette, featured related parallel summits including RWA Paris, focused on real-world assets, Ordinals Paris for Bitcoin-based digital collectibles, and XYZ Paris, dedicated to AI, DePIN, and other web3 interests.
Ticket refunds?
The team said that "all tickets will be refunded within 15 days." Pricing for tickets worked out to about $231.33 for general admission and $1,161.30 for VIP Access, according to Coinspeaker.
“We will be doing all we can to close this chapter properly,” they added.
That said, some would-be sponsors said they likely won't see reimbursement. Serc, the artist behind the Silhouettes generative art collection, claims to have received an email saying that NFT Paris is “unfortunately unable to offer a refund” due to budget constraints.
“As per Article 12 of our agreement, the non-refundable costs incurred for the event exceed the total sponsorship contributions received, so we are unfortunately unable to offer a refund at this time,” Serc wrote, claiming to be quoting an email sent to sponsors.
