Base, the blockchain incubated by Coinbase, experienced block production issues for the second time in two days, according to its status page.
Friday’s outage appears to have been brief. At 15:33 UTC, an alert showed that the team was investigating an issue, which was shortly identified. As of 16:11 UTC, "Block production is resumed."
"Node operators will need to restart their Base Mainnet nodes in order to resume syncing," the team said.
Base experienced a chain halt on Thursday, where block production stopped after an invalid block essentially choked up the sequencer after block 47806542. No user funds were at risk, though the issue did interrupt withdrawals.
Healthy block production resumed yesterday after about two hours, according to the status page, and node operators were directed to restart.
It appears a similar event occurred on Friday. "Base Mainnet is experiencing a chain halt with the [sic] similar symptoms," one of the alerts read.
Notably, yesterday’s issue occurred around the time of the Beryl hardfork, planned for Thursday at 18 UTC, which introduced a number of significant updates, including the B20 token standard as well as other finality upgrades.
Beryl was successfully implemented on Thursday at 20:00 UTC, according to the status page.
