Facebook wants to help bank the unbanked. And if that mission was not abundantly clear when it announced the launch of Libra, the social media giant brought citations.

Now, a mission to help provide financial access to those without the means to access it is respectable — and marketable. But Facebook appears to not have fully thought out its mission. As my colleague Isabel Woodford previously alluded, Facebook does not yet have a clear plan on how it will help bank the unbanked. Sure, a permissioned blockchain run by a handful of nodes might make transferring money more accessible and cheaper, but how will the unbanked access Libra?
