Alameda Research is a Hong Kong-based quantitative cryptocurrency trading firm that does a combination of arbitrage, quantitative strategies, liquidity providing, and OTC trading across crypto platforms. 

The firm was founded by Sam Bankman-Fried in 2017, a former Jane Street Capital trader, to take advantage of the arbitrage opportunities in crypto markets resulting from inefficient markets and weak infrastructure.
