I'm going to be honest, I'm at a bit of a loss for words. As someone that has enjoyed following markets over the last decade, and has spent 3 years covering equity markets before crypto, I've yet to experience the outright pace of deterioration in global cross asset markets that has occurred this week. Sure, I was doing my high school economics stock trading competition during the peak of the GFC (I was 100% maxed out margin long gold and came in second!) so my perspective on 08' is very different than a majority of our readers, but looking at time series data as far back as 1920  it's easy to see that that this week was nothing short of historic. Here are some of the charts that define how unprecedented this week has been across assets:

The pace of the U.S. equity sell is remarkable. This was the fastest drop into a technical bear market (down 25% in under 3 weeks) ever. Comparing to 2008, current drawdown levels took almost 250 days to reach similar levels (down ~25%). Yesterday was the 5th single worst day in S&P500 history, and the worst day since Black Monday on 1987. It doesn't get much worse than days like yesterday.
