Even though PlusToken, the Chinese multi-billion dollar Ponzi scheme, went largely unnoticed in the West until August, everyone is keeping an eye on it now. The Ponzi scheme promised users returns of up to 30% and then finally collapsed in June after running for more than a year.

Chainalaysis, the largest blockchain analysis firm, tracked a total of 180k BTC (~$1.3 billion), 6.4 million ETH (~$814 million) and 111k USDT that went to PlusToken wallets. Another analytics firm, Elementus, estimated that PlusToken collected 10 million ETH from roughly 800k participants. However, what’s still not clear is how much of the sum went back to unknowing PlusToken users and how much of it was kept by the PlusToken organizers.
