It’s now been five weeks since the market sell-off induced by panic over the coronavirus pandemic began. Since then, the U.S. stock market suffered the sharpest decline in its history, even steeper than the Great Depression in 1929. 

Since peaking on February 20, the S&P 500 index has dropped by as much as 35.8% in 22 trading days. In the last week, the index has recovered slightly and is trading down ~25%.
