In March, the blue-chip NFT market saw meaningful developments, with overall trading volume growing by a modest 4% month-over-month (MoM) to reach $543.3 million. Amid this growth, Wrapped CryptoPunks stood out as a powerhouse, capturing significant investor interest.

CryptoPunks, one of the earliest and most iconic NFT collections, launched before the standardization of the ERC-721 token protocol that is widely used in the NFT space today. As a result, the original CryptoPunks were not directly compatible with newer NFT marketplaces like Blur or OpenSea, which relies on the ERC-721 standard. To address this compatibility issue, Wrapped CryptoPunks were introduced, allowing each original CryptoPunk to be "wrapped" as an ERC-721 token, making them accessible on modern NFT platforms. The collection's trading volume surged by an impressive 876%, rising from $17 million in February to $166 million in March.
