Rapid Insights: Unichain Unleashed

On October 10, 2024, Uniswap announced the launch of Unichain, an optimistic rollup designed to optimize multi-chain asset swaps. Built with the OP stack, Unichain shares architectural similarities with OP Mainnet, including EVM equivalence. Unichain is currently in its testnet phase, with a mainnet launch anticipated later this year. 

Unichain's deployment largely mirrors established development frameworks, such as that of Ethereum’s and OP Mainnet’s, with specific parameter adjustments. For instance, Unichain’s testnet, Sepolia, has a block time of 1 second, with 250 milliseconds sub-blocks, a feature enabled by Rollup-Boost, which will be discussed later in the piece. Additionally, Sepolia currently has a similar block gas target of 5,000,000, like OP Mainnet, which is three times smaller than Ethereum’s blocks.
