I recently connected with a journalist working on a story about blockchain implementations in the fashion industry. Specifically, she was referencing the recent news that LVMH, the French luxury brand conglomerate which owns brands like Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior, was launching a blockchain for tracking its high-end products.

The concept of applying blockchain (see: timechain) technology to supply chains always fascinates me. Not because it is a breakthrough technology the likes we’ve never seen — it’s not — but because of the seemingly contradictory concept of applying something that works pretty well for tracking assets in the digital realm (see: Bitcoin) to something in meatspace.
