Gala Games: Permissioned Gaming Blockchain

Since the NFT, gaming, and metaverse categories took off in 2021, layer-1 networks are racing to become the go-to gaming hub. Ethereum is notoriously known for its high gas fees during network congestion. For instance, Yuga Lab’s Otherdeeds NFT launch in May 2022 caused a gas war on Ethereum, resulting in $172 million in transaction fees that cost individual buyers between $4,000 and $10,000. 

As a result, an increasing number of alternative layer-1 chains have emerged to provide scaling solutions specifically for NFT and gaming projects, such as Avalanche subnets, Flow, Ronin, Immutable X, WAX, Wemix, and Enjin (Efinity). Although there are many other layer-1s that host gaming projects, such as BNB Chain (formerly known as Binance Smart Chain), Polygon, and Solana, these layer-1s aim to be a general-purpose blockchain on which DeFi dApps primarily predominate.
