Zcash Company rebrands to Electric Coin Company

The former Zcash Company has changed its name to the Electric Coin Company for the sake of clarity, the company has announced in a blog post. The firm was never actually formally called Zcash Company; the name was associated with its cryptocurrency—Zcash.

Before the rebranding, the company’s official name was the Zerocoin Electric Coin Company. However, it wanted to avoid confusion where someone might have mistaken it for the Zcash Foundation, a non-profit organisation that remains a separate entity from the Electric Coin Company.

The name change comes after the launch of a new domain and a complete rebranding. However, the company firmly states the name is the only thing that has changed, stating "We are the same team, with the same mission: to empower everyone with economic freedom and opportunity.”
