Anthony Pompliano, a crypto influencer and investor, is expected to lead a publicly traded company seeking to raise $750 million for Bitcoin purchases, the Financial Times reported late Thursday, citing three sources close to the deal.

Pompliano was in talks to serve as chief executive of a group called ProCapBTC, which would then seek to raise $500 million in equity financing and $250 million in convertible debt through a merger with Columbus Circle Capital 1, according to the FT report.

Columbus Circle, a special purpose acquisition company backed by investment bank Cohen & Company, went public on the Nasdaq last month in a $250 million upsized initial public offering.

ProCapBTC plans to use the raised capital to purchase Bitcoin, the report said.

Last month, ProCap Acquisition Corp, a blank-check firm led by Pompliano, debuted on the Nasdaq in a $220 million IPO. However, based on publicly available information, it remains unclear how ProCapBTC is related to ProCap Acquisition Corp.

The Block has reached out to Pompliano and Cohen & Company for comment.

Pompliano, who has 1.7 million followers on X and 620,000 YouTube subscribers, is an entrepreneur and investor known for his involvement in the crypto industry.
