Arbitrum Nova Sees Modest Adoption

Arbitrum AnyTrust was launched on August 9, 2022, with the deployment of Arbitrum Nova mainnet. The main difference between Arbitrum Nova and Arbitrum One is that the former uses a toggleable data availability mode while the latter posts data on-chain. As a result, Arbitrum Nova is able to offer lower fees at the expense of lowered security. 

Arbitrum One, the optimistic rollup, had recently released Arbitrum Nitro, which was covered in a prior research piece. While both Arbitrum Nitro and AnyTrust were released around the same time, they are different frameworks altogether. Nitro is a series of improvements to Arbitrum One, whereas AnyTrust is a data availability mode where a blockchain can rely on an external DAC whilst utilizing Arbitrum’s fraud-proofing mechanism.
