Rapid Insights: ZKSync Era Airdrop

The long-awaited ZKSync Era airdrop was announced on June 11, 2024, and commenced seven days after. 17.5% of the total ZK supply will be airdropped to the community, and another 49.2% has been earmarked for funding further ecosystem initiatives, subject to approval of the Token Assembly, a governance body made up of ZK token delegators.

There are 695,232 wallets eligible to claim the ZK airdrop, which includes users of ZKSync Era and ZKSync Lite, along with a wide range of other community participants, from developers to moderators and even translators. Despite that, there has still been some degree of negative sentiment towards the airdrop allocation, citing concerns over how the airdrop has favored Sybil exploiters. Nonetheless, most airdrop criteria typically have weaknesses and the criterion used for ZK is no different.
