Understanding Polygon's Aggregation Layer

Polygon recently announced the impending launch of its new aggregation layer (AggLayer). The idea behind an aggregation layer is to enhance cross-chain interoperability by leveraging validity proofs so that fragmented liquidity can be unified and cross-chain interactions can be made seamless for the end users.

There are three main aspects to Polygon AggLayer, namely, proof aggregation, batch finalization, and cross-chain interoperability mechanism.
