About Grayscale Litecoin Trust (Conversion)

The Grayscale Litecoin Trust is an investment product that allows investors to gain exposure to Litecoin (LTC) without directly purchasing the cryptocurrency. The trust holds Litecoin on behalf of its investors and its shares are designed to reflect the value of Litecoin held by the trust, minus fees and expenses.

Recently, NYSE filed a 19b-4 form with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to potentially convert the Grayscale Litecoin Trust into a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF). This filing is part of a broader trend of converting existing trusts into ETFs, which would offer more liquidity and potentially closer tracking of the underlying asset's price. The SEC has been approving similar conversions for other cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, and the proposed conversion of the Litecoin Trust is currently under review.
