Data & Insights: New Solana Launchpad Shows Growing Dominance

Quick Take
- Data & Insights is a weekly series showcasing top charts from The Block’s Data Dashboard.
- This week, we’re taking a look at we’re taking a look at new launchpads, changing dynamics for exchange tokens, and the Ethereum staking landscape. We’ll also take a look at Hyperliquid’s dominance and Ethena’s growth
We'd love your feedback.
Let There Be LIGHT
- Heaven, a Solana‑based token launchpad with its own in-house DEX, launched just over a week ago and has reached a 15% market share in terms of token launches on Solana.
- The platform went live on 15 August, and since then, has averaged ~4.1K token launches per day.
- On its first day of going live, Heaven saw over 5K tokens launched through it, with an all-time high of nearly 9K tokens launched by day 5.
- From this, the platform generated over $3.8 million in fees within its first 10 days of going live.
- Heaven differs from other launchpads as it does not utilize a bonding curve, but instead seeds each new pool with “virtual liquidity”.
- In short, virtual liquidity makes it so that every pool trades as though it were seeded with ~35 SOL, essentially setting an initial price to price-impact floor so launches trade right away on Heaven’s AMM.
- While a Heaven-launched token’s market cap is below $100K, it charges a 1% fee on every trade.
- Once a token surpasses the $100K market cap mark, fees taper down to 0.25% for “community” coins and 0.5% for “creator” coins.
- Categorization of either one is dependent on the party that launched the token and the Heaven team’s discretionary review.
- Moreover, the other main differentiator of Heaven from other launchpads is its “God Flywheel”, where 100% of protocol revenue is routed towards buybacks and burns of its native token, LIGHT
- LIGHT launched 3 days prior to the launchpad going live and stood at a $15 million market cap at the time.
- As the launchpad went live and activity began to pick up, LIGHT rose to an all-time high of $130 million in just a week.
- At the time of writing, LIGHT has a market capitalization of $40 million.
Okex OKB Tokenomics Change
- OKX’s exchange token, OKB, is up over 440% this month, following several tokenomics changes that not only brought a supply shock but also added utility for the token.
- The first change implemented was a one-time burn of ~65.2 million OKB tokens from circulation, which were previously accumulated through past buyback programs and held in company reserves
- The second was the introduction of a 21 million supply hard cap for the OKB token, with the removal of any mint and burn functions.
- Lastly, the consolidation of OKB as the sole gas token of OKX’s X Layer, as OKX announced an ecosystem fund, liquidity incentives, and infrastructure upgrades.
- OKX also decommissioned its OKTChain and its OKT token, while also phasing out ETH‑L1 OKB
- This move thus concentrated demand into the one existing OKB token rather than splitting it across assets and networks.
- As of the time of writing, OKB has a fully diluted valuation of $3.8 billion.
How Do You Stake ETH?
- Ethereum liquid restaking protocols have experienced remarkable growth, with total value locked across platforms reaching $30 billion, representing a significant shift in how validators are deploying their ETH for yield generation.
- This surge comes as we discussed last week how native ETH staking has seen increased withdrawal activity, with validators exiting the traditional staking mechanism in favor of more dynamic opportunities.
- Leading protocols like EtherFi and Eigenpie have captured substantial market share since the beginning of the year, with the sector showing consistent upward momentum through mid-2025.
- The migration from native staking to liquid restaking reflects evolving risk appetite and yield optimization strategies among ETH holders.
- While some market observers initially interpreted validator withdrawals as bearish sentiment, the data suggest users are simply reallocating capital toward more lucrative DeFi opportunities rather than exiting the ecosystem entirely.
- Liquid restaking offers the dual benefit of maintaining exposure to ETH staking rewards while providing additional yield opportunities and maintaining liquidity through tradeable receipt tokens.
- The timing of this shift aligns with broader market conditions and the DeFi ecosystem, delivering promising yield.
- During periods of market turbulence, native ETH staking represented the safest yield-generating option for risk-averse holders seeking steady returns.
- However, as market conditions have stabilized and DeFi protocols have demonstrated greater resilience, participants get increasingly comfortable exploring higher-yield alternatives that liquid restaking protocols provide.
- This trend suggests that as the Ethereum ecosystem continues to evolve, users are becoming more sophisticated in their yield farming strategies, moving beyond simple staking toward more complex but potentially rewarding DeFi positions.
How Liquid? Hyperliquid
- Hyperliquid has emerged as the defining narrative of this cycle's decentralized derivatives landscape, capturing approximately 80% of perpetual protocol market share and establishing itself as a formidable challenger to centralized alternatives.
- The platform's unique approach to tokenomics set it apart from typical DeFi protocols, notably refusing venture capital funding and instead launching its $HYPE token directly on public markets, forcing all participants to acquire exposure at market prices.
- This unconventional launch mechanism demonstrated confidence in the protocol's organic growth potential while ensuring no preferential token allocations to institutional investors.
- The protocol has processed over $200 billion in trading volume in recent months and has allowed Hyperliquid to directly compete with centralized exchange offerings on both liquidity and user experience, a feat few decentralized protocols have been able to offer
- The platform suggested that the growth of volume has been driven by increased crosschain functions, which allow users the flexibility to deposit assets on multiple chains, including Bitcoin, which has previously been a major hurdle for other decentralized exchanges.
- Hyperliquid has begun to chip away at Binance's derivatives dominance, with the Hyperliquid-to-Binance volume ratio reaching 13.6% in recent monthly measurements, up from approximately 8% at the start of the year.
- This growing market share represents a significant shift in trader preferences, suggesting that decentralized alternatives can capture meaningful volume when they offer comparable functionality and reliability.
- The sustainability of this growth trajectory will likely depend on Hyperliquid's ability to maintain its technical edge while scaling to accommodate increasing user demand without compromising the performance that initially attracted traders from centralized platforms.
Ethena Flywheel
- Ethena's USDe has continued its remarkable growth, with its supply surging to $12 billion as of August 25th, more than 15% of USDC supply, the second-largest stablecoin.
- This positions USDe as a strong contender to challenge the dominance of stronghold stablecoins like USDC and USDT in the coming months.
- The growth stems from USDe's unique value proposition as a yield-bearing, crypto-native stablecoin that generates returns through delta-neutral hedging strategies.
- Unlike non-yielding alternatives such as USDC and USDT, USDe offers holders 9-11% APY by maintaining a peg through collateral positions in ETH/BTC paired with short futures positions, capitalizing on positive funding rates in the current rising market environment.
- Much of the supply expansion is driven by sophisticated yield amplification strategies, where users stake USDe as sUSDe, tokenize it on Pendle, then create recursive borrowing loops on Aave to achieve leveraged yields.
- Aave, a decentralized lending protocol, allows users to deposit their PT-sUSDe tokens as collateral to borrow additional USDe. This borrowed USDe can then be restaked and re-tokenized on Pendle, creating a recursive loop that amplifies exposure to the underlying yields.
- The mechanism has locked a significant supply of USDe in Pendle and Aave, creating a reflexive growth cycle that pays significant leveraged returns.
- While the growth reflects genuine demand for yield in favorable market conditions, the leverage-dependent nature of the ecosystem raises questions about sustainability should funding rates turn negative or market conditions deteriorate, echoing patterns seen in previous DeFi cycles.
