Coinbase adds memecoin Moo Deng to listing roadmap

Quick Take

  • The move marks the third memecoin Coinbase added to its listing roadmap add recently, following the tokens Dogwifhat (WIF) and Pepe (PEPE) in November.

The cryptocurrency exchange giant Coinbase intends to add the memecoin Moo Deng (MOODENG), according to a company post.

The move marks the third memecoin Coinbase added to its listing roadmap add recently, following listing plans for the tokens Dogwifhat (WIF) and Pepe (PEPE) in November, The Block previously reported.

The Solana-based cryptocurrency MOODENG derived from a pygmy hippopotamus of the same name living in Thailand's Khao Kheow Open Zoo, who gained viral popularity around September of this year for her personality, small stature and cute features. MOODENG even caused the memecoin launchpad Pump.fun to experience a volume spike after the token launched on Sept. 11.

MOODENG traded at around $0.59 as of 3:38 p.m. ET on Dec. 2, experiencing a 68% increase in the past 24 hours, crypto price tracker CoinGecko shows. The token has a market capitalization exceeding $579 million.

MOODENG is fairing better than other memecoins within the past day. The Block's GMCI Index for memecoins, showcasing the market behavior for the top memecoins by market capitalizations, decreased nearly 6% in the 24 hours.
