Quick Take

  • VOOI, backed by Changpeng Zhou’s family office YZi Labs, has notched $8.4 billion worth of cumulative perps trading volume since the spring of last year.
  • The latest version of the platform uses OneBalance’s chain abstraction toolkit to “eliminate the concepts of ‘chains,’ ‘bridges’ or ‘native gas fees.’”

Will K, the founder of the Binance-backed Symbiosis.Finance, unveiled a new mainnet version of his VOOI decentralized exchange on Tuesday. VOOI V2 is looking to eliminate the need for a wallet, bridges, and multiple trading dashboards, "which are traditionally barriers for retail users to start trading," according to an announcement.

"Trading was never the hard part. Access was," Will K, CEO at VOOI, said in a statement. “With V2, we’ve created a decentralised platform that unifies cross-chain spot and perpetual trading, delivering seamless liquidity without gimmicks or incentives … instead of adding an additional DeFi layer, we’ve erased one, setting a new standard for DeFi access for all.”

VOOI is backed by Changpeng Zhou’s family office YZi Labs (formerly known as Binance Labs). The perps-focused platform has notched $8.4 billion worth of cumulative volume, according to DeFi Llama, since launching in May 2024.

The platform pitches itself as "the first chain abstracted perp DEX," offering aggregated access to multiple perpetual exchanges, including Hyperliquid, Orderly, and SynFutures, through a unified trading terminal. It partnered with OneBalance and integrated OneBalance’s chain abstraction toolkit to "eliminate the concepts of ‘chains,’ ‘bridges’ or ‘native gas fees,’” it previously announced

Chain abstraction will enable users to more easily transact via differing EVM-compatible networks like Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base. The platform also plans to expand to non-EVM ecosystems.
