<p>The number of blacklisted Tether addresses on the Ethereum network has reached 100, according to new findings from The Block Research.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <div id="attachment_80251"class="wp-caption alignnone" style="max-width: 810px;"><img class="has-caption wp-image-80251 size-medium" src="https://www.tbstat.com/wp/uploads/2020/10/blacklisted-tether-800x384.jpg" alt="" width="800" height="384" /><p class="wp-caption-text"><em>Source: Dune Analytics</em></p></div> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Eighty-four of the blacklist actions by Tether took place in 2020, with most of them happening after July. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The term “blacklisting” means that the addresses in question cannot send, receive, or redeem USDT, thus rendering any Tether tokens held in those addresses unusable. </span></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As of </span><a href="https://www.theblockcrypto.com/linked/70981/tether-blacklist-addresses-ethereum-usdt"><span style="font-weight: 400;">July 9</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> of 2020, Tether had blacklisted 39 Ethereum addresses holding the USDT stablecoin. There are various reasons for why an address might be blacklisted, including law enforcement requests or freezing actions by Tether has part of a recovery process. </span></p>
