Dogecoin logo appears on new Department of Government Efficiency website

Quick Take

  • The logo of the Elon Musk-supported memecoin Doge has appeared on the website for President Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency.
  • Musk is now reportedly in sole charge of the government streamlining and cost saving unit, amid Vivek Ramaswamy’s plans to run for governor of Ohio.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has published the logo of its memecoin namesake on its website following President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday.

The .gov page states that it is an official website of the United States government, also showing the department's title alongside a dollar sign and the slogan "the people voted for major reform" at the time of writing.

The move comes as head of the unit, long-time Dogecoin enthusiast and billionaire Trump supporter, Elon Musk, is reportedly now in sole charge of operations, with former co-lead, biotech entrepreneur and crypto advocate Vivek Ramaswamy, apparently planning to run for governor of Ohio next year.

Trump selected the pair to lead DOGE following his presidential election victory in November. “Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures and restructure Federal Agencies,” Trump wrote in an announcement at the time.

Despite not being an official government department, the unit is designed to provide guidance to drive large-scale structural reform from outside of the U.S. government, and take an unprecedented “entrepreneurial approach” as it works together with the White House and Office of Management and Budget.

Dogecoin was created as a joke in 2013 by software engineers Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer. “I make Dogecoin jokes and stuff because I just kind of like Dogecoin,” Musk said last year. “Because it’s got the best sense of humor, and it has dogs and memes, and I love all those things.”

Dogecoin is up around 11% on Tuesday to $0.40, according to The Block’s DOGE Price Page.
